The Labour Party announced last night it is supporting Independent TD Catherine Connolly's bid for the presidency.
A meeting of Labour's parliamentary party and executive board was held yesterday evening where it was agreed it would support the Galway West TD's Áras campaign.
The party joins the Social Democrats, People Before Profit and a number of Independents in supporting the TD's run. Liam Van Der Spek who is a Labour representative from Co Cavan says the reality is that we have 11 seats and we don't have enough to put someone forward from our own party.
He says he has some concerns in relation to her stance on Gaza and Ukraine. Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Liam highlights some of his issues that he has with Catherine Connolly.
