The president of a local Lions Club fears the GAA’s move to a cashless ticket operation will severely hamper charity collections.
Fans are not able to purchase tickets for Allianz Football League games at turnstiles on the day of the event, and must buy their tickets online or in selected SuperValu or Centra stores.
The move was introduced last year when attendances were reduced due to the pandemic and will continue this year at national level.
Paddy Gollogly, the President of the Carrickmacross Lions Club, says the cashless system could be the end of bucket collections at games because people will be less likely to carry cash.
He added that the move could alienate older people who struggle to get online.
