Local MEP defends use of AI to draft emotive letter

A local MEP has defended his use of Artificial Intelligence to draft an emotive letter urging the EU to deliver more aid to Gaza.

Ciaran Mullooly's letter, sent to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, included a fictional account of a young girl living in Rafa.

The letter also contained lyrics from house music group Swedish House Mafia, including the line 'Don't you worry child, heaven's got a plan for you'.

Artificial Intelligence enables machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, and problem-solving.

The Journal today reported that it was published to his own website and later shared on his social media accounts.

Mullooly says AI was used to provide a comprehensive plan for the delivery of aid into Gaza.

He says the 20,000 word letter generated by Artificial Intelligence was fact-checked by colleagues.

The Midlands Northwest MEP says he employed the use of AI because he had run out of words to describe the situation in Gaza.
