Parents across the Northern Sound region are being encouraged to avail of free RSV immunisation this winter.
Respiratory syncytial virus is a common virus that causes respiratory infection in children and adults, while the risk of severe infection is highest in young infants.
The HSE is running an immunisation programme for babies born from early September 2025 until the end of February 2026.
Premature babies, higher risk infants, and babies aged six months or less during this period will also be eligible for the service.
Appointments for babies will only be available from today until the first week of October, and immunisation will be provided at local primary care centres.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Dr. Fiona McGuire from the HSE said the programme has been extended this year:
Appointments can be booked online on the HSE website.
