A pub owner in Co Cavan says the increase in the price of a pint puts pressure on rural pubs.
Dean McMullen is co-owner of the Burnt Pig in Cootehill, the pub opened it's doors just before Christmas of 2025.
In January Diageo announced a further price increase, which is the fifth increase seen in three years.
The cost of a pint rose by a further seven cent (excluding VAT) from yesterday (2nd February).
The move was heavily criticised by the Vintners' Federation of Ireland who warned that many pubs will have to pass the price onto it's customers.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr McMullen said it's not ideal for them.
