A local man believes older people are disappointed as this Budget has fallen short of expectations
Seamus McDermott, Monaghan Ambassador for Age Friendly Ireland, has voiced disappointment over the government's €10 pension increase announced today.
He said groups like Age Friendly Ireland and Active Retirement Ireland had called for a rise in the range of €22 to €25 increase to keep up with rising living costs.
Mr. McDermott highlighted that the average cost of essential items such as butter, milk, and beef have risen significantly in the past year.
He warned that many older people will struggle through the winter as costs continue to climb.
Speaking to Northern Sound he said it's hard to see how far the tenner will go.
