Around a thousand school secretaries and caretakers have been protesting outside Leinster House today.
It’s part of the first day of indefinite strike action. Around a thousand people are gathered outside government buildings.
They’re calling for access to the public pension scheme and other entitlements. Forsa says they’re currently treated as second class citizens in the education sector.

Locally school secretaries and caretakers have been striking outside their schools also. In Castleblayney a number of workers are protesting, secretaries Sabia O Neill, Linda McCahey Sheehan, Una Deasy, Christina Mooney, Bernie McNamee and Maggie Redmond along with Caretaker Fintan Smyth have been on the picket line.
Secretary Sabia O Neill says its unfair the way they are being treated and this needs to be changed.
