Schools in Cavan and Monaghan are being urged to apply for the Solar for Schools Programme before the deadline of Friday, March 7th.
The scheme, which, provides eligible schools with approximately 14 solar panels offers an opportunity for schools to reduce their carbon emissions and energy costs, as well as providing useful daily data to schools and students on their consumption.
Fine Gael TD David Maxwell is encouraging local schools to make an application. He said there has been strong take up of this scheme since it began, and 135 schools (77 in Cavan & 58 in Monaghan) have progressed to tender stage for solar panels. The new Department of Education online platform, School Hub, aims to make the application process as streamlined as possible for schools.
