A local senator is encouraging people across the Northern Sound region to look into getting a GP Visit Card.
GP Visit Cards enable holders to visit their doctors free of charge.
Children under 8 years of age and those aged 70 or more are automatically eligible for the card.
As of the 1st of August 2025, there were over three quarters of a million GP Visit Card holders throughout the country.
This includes 21,631 people in Cavan and Monaghan.
Cavan Senator Joe O'Reilly says the card can provide annual savings of up to €600 for a family of four:
