A Co Cavan senator has hit out at the toll charges that commuters have to pay when travelling to Dublin.
Aontu Senator Sarah O'Reilly along with her party is calling for tolls on the M50 to be scrapped. Party members hung banners yesterday over the M50 in opposition to toll increases introduced on New Year's Day.
A car using the M50 typically pays around €2.60 with a toll tag and up on €4 without a tag. Senator O'Reilly says the hikes on the M50, the M3 tolls and sub standard roads leave for very unfair circumstances on commuters.
She says all these charges along with hikes in fuel is adding extra strain on motorists and it's not fair.
