Local senator says hot school meals programme brings region one step closer to equality

The programme was set up as a pilot programme of just 30 schools in 2019 and it has gone from strength to strength over the years.

Hot school meals are one of the greatest initiatives to achieve equailty for children in the country.
That's according to Cavan Senator Joe O'Reilly who says the scheme has had a postive impact as the rollout continues.

The programme was set up as a pilot programme of just 30 schools in 2019 and it has gone from strength to strength over the years.
The former social protection minister Heather Humphreys said the hot school meals programme was her pride and joy to see how it expanded over the last 6 years.
It was confirmed last week that 15 additional primary schools in Cavan and 9 in Monaghan are to start receiving free hot school meals.
Senator Joe O'Reilly says the hot schools meal programme is a gamechanger that is achieving equality.
