Students across Cavan and Monaghan have been left "distressed" and in "limbo" over accreditation issues at Dublin Business School.
After studying for three years in the DBS Applied Social Care Programmes, the CORU board revealed that it would not be accrediting students with their degree to become social workers.
Speaking on the issue, Cavan/Monaghan TD Niamh Smyth said she has made contact with the DBS and Minister Simon Harris over the matter.
Describing it as a "crisis situation" Deputy Smyth warned that local students have invested "thousands of euros in their education to achieve this accreditation."
In his response, Minister Harris told Deputy Smyth that officials from his Department will assess the situation, to seek a satisfactory solution.
