A local TD is says it's been really difficult few days since the news broke of Jim Gavin's withdrawal of the presidential campaign.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin is set to face questions from his party members in relation to this at a meeting of Fianna Fáil tonight.
Niamh Smyth said she has heard from various members of Fianna Fáil who want straight answers on how the situation got to this point.
It's believed that tonight's meeting will allow for a frank and comprehensive discussion on how this situation occurred.
Speaking to Joe Finnegan this morning she explained that members have questions, but believes Micheál Martin must be given the chance to explain himself.
