A Cavan Monaghan TD believes we need as a nation show solidarity with the Indian Community in Ireland.
Niamh Smith was reacting to the news that the community cancelled India Day in Phoenix Park.
The event was meant to be taking place this Sunday, but was called off by the Indian Council over safety fears.

This follows a number of recent attacks on members of the Indian Community in recent weeks, including an attack on a young girl.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Niamh Smith said political leadership is needed.
