A local TD says there is disparity in the development of both sites at Cavan Monaghan General Hospital.
Speaking in the Dáil, Health Minister Jennifer Caroll MacNeill noted that there was a 30% increase in the budget for the hospital, and that staffing had increased by 295 professionals since 2020.
However Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy stressed that most funding and staffing increases are targeted at Cavan General Hospital, while he says the Monaghan site is being neglected.
Cavan General Hospital had also applied for its MRI scanner to be replaced, which the health minister confirmed will be completed by the end of the year.
