The expansion of areas eligible for CLÁR funding has been described as great news for Cavan and Monaghan.
Niamh Smyth particularly welcomed the inclusion of Drumsnat among the newly eligible areas under the CLÁR 2026 programme.
A total of €12 million is available nationwide to support rural community projects such as playgrounds, sports amenities, walking tracks and community facilities.

Community groups across both counties are being encouraged to engage with their local authorities if they are considering applying for funding.
The programme also provides support for community transport services and targeted funding for offshore island communities.
