Learning Irish at a young age can create a number of opportunities for students later in life.
That's according to the principle of Gaelscoil Éois, Laura Nic Grianna.
Gaelscoil Eois was founded in 1995 by a group of enthusiastic people with an interest in education through the medium of Irish.
It moved into new buildings in June 2025, with 126 students currently enrolled school, with a further 40 in the schools naíonra.
Speaking to Northern Sound, she said that a lot of parents who have lived abroad often return home, and send their children to Gaelscoils.
The principle believes that being abroad helps people to understand the importance of the language.
Ms. Nic Grianna also thinks some people who weren't good at Irish in school, would like their children to be good at Irish
She said: "We find with a lot of parents who have been living away, when you are abroad you appreciate the importance of the language.
"When you come home you want them to immerse themselves in the language," she added.
