The Sean McDermotts 'Mothers and Others' team in Threemilehouse, Co Monaghan have been selected to fly the flag for Monaghan in a New York blitz.
The 'Mothers and Others' initiative is for women over the age of 25. It's a non-competitive environment where matches are played on a smaller pitch and you can have unlimited substitutes.
The local group started three years ago on a six week trial and 50 people showed up.
Since then, team member Caroline Flack says the group has only gone from strength to strength since then.
Caroline says part of the success is the support that the team has received from the club.
The opportunity to travel to New York came about through a "lottery system" after the team applied and were lucky enough to be selected.
Various fundraising initiatives have taken place over the last number of months in a bid to support the team on their travels.
The team are travelling stateside today and will be in New York for four nights.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Caroline praised the success of the team, adding that it has gave everyone a sense of belonging along with lifelong friendships.
