A local Cavan woman has shared her experience of being attacked by a fox, as she urges others to exercise caution.
Noelle, who lives in rural Co. Cavan was attempting to protect her chickens when the animal attacked her at 3.30pm on Thursday last.
She described how she thought the fox would run away from her, but instead it charged at her, and attacked her.
The fox, which she described as small and starving, repeatedly charged at her with his mouth open.
During the attack Noelle suffered a head injury which required four staples and she is also taking antibiotics as a precaution.
Noelle is urging others to remember that foxes are wild animals and warns people not to approach them, even if they seem tame.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning Noelle described the attack.
