Locals urged to 'play your part' and keep roads safe

As the brighter evenings kick-in, Garda Stevens has warned that roads will be busier with traffic and pedestrians.

As the lighter evenings come into effect Gardai are encouraging locals to "play their part" in making our roads safer. Garda Lisa Stevens of Bailieboro Garda Station says a greater stretch in the evenings sees the return of sporting events, training schedules and people getting out and more active through walking or cycling. With this being said, Garda Stevens is urging people to be mindful of the "increased movement" on local roads with more pedestrians, cyclists and traffic.

If you are walking or cycling please ensure that you continue to wear high visibility clothing. Speaking to Northern Sound, Garda Lisa Stevens is also encouraging people to - slow down and put your phone down:
