As Autumn takes a hold, Gardai in Co Cavan are advising people on how they can remain safe as weather conditions change.
Garda Lisa Stevens of Bailieboro Garda Station is appealing for homeowners to "lock up and light up."
According to Garda Stevens, outdoor sensor lights or indoor lights on timer switches can put off intruders as opposed to a house in darkness.
A change in weather conditions can also cause road conditions to deteriorate.
Garda Stevens is appealing for people to adjust driving to these conditions.
Speaking to Northern Sound, she outlined how people can stay safe: "Slow down, use your lights and as always be mindful of pedestrians and cyclist. Drop in also on your elderly neighbours who may not be confident to get out during this weather. If you feel someone needs our assistance never hesitate to get in touch with your local Garda Station."
