Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Co. Monaghan this morning.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to an incident on the Broad Road, Monaghan shortly before 1am.
A male pedestrian in his 50s was struck by an SUV and was taken from the scene by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
He is currently being treated for serious injuries.
The scene has been preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local traffic diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Any road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
