A 56-year-old man has been further remanded in jail in relation to a fatal collision in Co Monaghan.
Ion Bucurica appeared at Monaghan District Court via video link today in relation to dangerous driving causing the death of the mother of two, Emma Mackeral.
The Romanian national who resides in France appeared in front of Judge Raymond Finnegan over the alleged offence. A contested bail application took place two weeks ago at Monaghan District Court in relation to the alleged charge that the lorry driver faces.
The 56-year-old was refused bail and the court was told today that he is now seeking High Court bail tomorrow. Judge Raymond Finnegan was told that further charges are now to be added following instructions from the DPP.
The case is in relation to Gardaí and emergency services attending a collision involving a HGV and a car on the N2 at Mullaghnee, Annalitten, Castleblayney that occurred in December.
Emma Mackeral, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. It's alleged that Mr Bucurica drove a vehicle in a manner that was dangerous causing the death of the Co Monaghan woman and he was arrested at the scene. Mr Bucurica was remanded in jail to appear at Monaghan District Court on February 4th to allow for further charges to be imposed.
