A man who killed a nun in Co Monaghan in 2001 has walked free from prison.
Keelan Herron, who is now 45 years old, was a teenager when he sexually assaulted and killed Sr Philomena Lyons.
According to the Sunday World, he was released from prison yesterday morning after spending over 24 years locked up.
Sister Philomena was a widely respected nun and teacher who was waiting on the bus when she was set upon.
Herron was 19 when he attacked the Cork born nun in the grounds of the Sacred Heart Convent, Ballybay, Co Monaghan on the 15th of December 2001.
It’s unknown where Mr Herron is now living since leaving Mountjoy Prison yesterday.
