Conor McGregor paid an unexpected visit to Monaghan Town yesterday evening.
He told Northern Sound FM that he was calling on Monaghan County Council to support him in his bid to become President.
The UFC fighter visited a number of businesses along with visiting the office of Deputy David Maxwell to seek his support.
Deputy Maxwell who is a Fine Gael TD said while his office doors are always open for everyone and he listened to what Mr McGregor had to say, he left him with no doubt that he was only behind Heather Humphreys in the Presidential race.
Mr McGregor said that he will be travelling around in the flesh to meet with the councillors and TD’s in a bid to get on the ballot paper come October 24th.
The Dublin native said he had one wish and that was to see a democratic process play out as he called on council representatives to back him:
