The Border region which includes Cavan and Monaghan saw a rise of 5.8% in house prices in the 12 months to September.
That's according to the Central Statistics Office, which published the Residential Property Price Index.
In Cavan the median price for a house was €250,000, while in Monaghan it was €252, 250 over the 12 months to September.
Nationally households paid a median price of €380,000 for a dwelling on the residential property market in the same period.
The highest prices were found in Dublin, while the lowest were found in Donegal.
