A meeting is being held today in relation to the delivery of the North South Interconnector across the region.
ESB Networks were scheduled to meet representatives today from the three County Councils (Meath, Cavan and Monaghan) to discuss the project timelines and current progress to date.
In a statement from the ESB, they say EirGrid are responsible for securing planning within the Republic of Ireland for the North South Interconnector project with ESB Networks responsible for construction works. EirGrid have sent ESB Networks a request to make an application to CRU for the granting of a Section 45 Special Order and ESB Networks are currently considering this request.
The plans that are proposed would see a 400 kV overhead line across counties Cavan, Monaghan, Armagh, Meath and Tyrone. Last year, a judgement on a review of the matter had ruled that the project should proceed as planned. It's unknown as of yet the outcome of today's meeting with the three local authorities.
