Midlands North-West MEP Maria Walsh has expressed her support for Heather Humphreys.
Former minister Heather Humphreys confirmed to the Joe Finnegan Show this week that she is putting her name forward in a bid to become the next president of Ireland.
Speaking to Northern Sound from the Virginia Show, Ms Walsh said Heather comes with experience and has a "girl next door" type of energy which makes her someone that you would like to see do well.
She says if Fine Gael gets behind her as a party she will do this country "exceptionally well."
