"Mercosur is a very bad deal for Irish farmers and it must be rejected outright."
That's according to Cavan-Monaghan TD Cathy Bennett.
She believes time is running out for the government when it comes to Mercosur,
Sinn Fein secured the support of the Dáil last month when it put down a motion to oppose the Mercosur trade agreement and there was cross party support for the motion.
Deputy Bennett says her party has repeatedly asked the Tánaiste and the Minister for Agriculture to state the government's position when it comes to Mercosur.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Bennett says there has been no meaningful legal guarantees against Mercosur. She claims that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael have once again left farming families pay the price.
The local TD is calling on Government to assure farmers and the people of the country that this deal will not go ahead:
