Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise Niamh Smyth has confirmed to Northern Sound News that she has met with and relayed the concerns of the people and businesses in Carrickmacross to the Minister for Justice, Jim O'Callaghan.
Minister Smyth said she met with the Minister of Justice in recent days to communicate with him about the Chamber of Commerce's meeting on Wednesday 30th April and the call for an increased Garda presence in the town and the installation of CCTV in Carrickmacross.
She said she has also spoken to Gardai locally on these matters as well as Monaghan County Council, along the Cathaoirleach of Carrickmacross MD, Cllr PJ O'Hanlon.
Minister Smyth says unease among the public is something that causes great stress and concern among our citizens, adding that she has met with many residents who have communicated that to me
