Minister Smyth welcomes inclusion of local projects in tourism plan

Minister Smyth has welcomed the two local projects' inclusion, adding that the plan will maximise visitors to the border region.

Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark and Sliabh Beagh have both been included in a new border tourism plan.

On Thursday last, An Taoiseach Michael Martin and Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise Niamh Smyth attended the Shared Island Shared Destinations Project Overview in Cloughmore Centre Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor. Both of the local tourist projects are set to set for a massive investment in this overall border tourism plan which will also include Carlingford Lough enhanced under the Shared Ireland approach. They will also be part of a wider marketing campaign promoting the border region as a place to visit. Sliabh Beagh will see the development of a 73km of connected cross border walking trails to include, walking, cycling and equestrian

Meanwwhile, in County Cavan in Cuilcagh Geopark, investment will see onward connectivity to Shannon Pot through the Cavan Way.
