The Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton will visit the Monaghan Community Special School in Castleblayney this morning.
Minister Naughton outlined that because of the school, pupils in the county no longer need to travel such long distances, to another county and can enjoy what our education system has to offer.
She said the school is a testament to the Cavan Monaghan ETBs commitment to providing high quality, inclusive education for all.
The minister also outlined that further modifications are planned for out-of-term time, where possible, which is to ensure that the learning environment has as little disruption as possible.
Speaking to Northern Sound this week, Minister Naughton said that there has been engagement with the Department of Education to try and further plans for a permanent special school in Monaghan.
The Minister said: "There is engagement with the department. I know deputy David Maxwell has been at my door in relation to progressing that.
"I'm working with him, and the school, and the department, in relation to furthering those plans," she added.
