There was a mixed reaction from local people to the protests in Monaghan this morning.
Protestors from across the Northern Sound region remain in place at the Coolshannagh Roundabout in Monaghan Town.
The group assembled yesterday, through word of mouth and text group chats.
They gathered last night, and have been in place at the roundabout ever since.
Traffic approaching the roundabout is backed up from all directions, but protestors have been letting emergency vehicles through.
Speaking to Northern Sound at this morning's protest farmers highlighted why they are protesting.
One protester said: "People will be frustrated. They don't realise that if this doesn't come to a resolution soon, the country is going to a stop one way or another. In terms of food production, haulage, everything. Businesses can't sustain it anymore.
Elsewhere, people passing through were frustrated by the blockade.
"Listen, people have legitimate concerns. Its ridiculous when you're disrupting other people. Ordinary people have concerns, you're disrupting the lives of other ordinary people. I'd love to see what the Guards are doing about it," a driver stuck in traffic said.
