Monaghan Town Co-Op closed its doors one last time in 2025, after 124 years in operation.
The local business had employed generations of local people during its over 100 years in existence.
Joe Leonard from Smithboro launched his new book 'Heritage Destruction - The Death of a Co-op' on the business that was the fabric of the local economy for over a century.
The Co-op was a huge economic driver for the region since its foundation in 1901. The book also signified the end of an era for so many people.
In recent weeks Joe has created a Facebook page where people can share and see pictures and other items from the history of the local co-op.
Joe says there is huge interest in the history of the co-op that was so important for so many people.
