"Monaghan's children with special needs continue to be failed by the Department of Education time and time again."
That's according to Paddy McAloon who is part of the 'Special Needs Active Parents' campaign.
Children with special needs in Co Monaghan are trying to get into post primary schools, however only seven places are available.
10 children, including Paddy's son are without places in Our Lady's in Castleblayney and 2 in St, McCartan's College in Monaghan.
According to the local father, parents have been left "upset" with fears that up to 20 or more children could be without a place come September.
Paddy highlighted that this current situation is not a reflection on the schools as teaching staff are doing their upmost best but their hands are tied.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr McAloon says this is a "direct failure" of the system and something must be done before parents have to take this matter directly to Dail Eireann.
Paddy days parents like himself are "fed up" not being listened to when it comes to demanding basic rights for their children: "This has put families under serious distress. I haven't told my son yet that he doesn't have a place because it will break him. Both schools in question are doing everything they can. This is solely down to the Department of Education and local TDs who have taken their eye off the ball."
Paddy is asking any parents who have been impacted by not having a school placement for post primary in September to make contact with Northern Sound or the 'SNAP' campaign group.
