Monaghan Co Co opens Book of Condolences

Five young people, including two Co Monaghan natives, lost their lives in Co Louth on Saturday night.

Candlelight vigils will be held this evening for the five victims of the Dundalk road crash.

Five young people, including two Co Monaghan natives, lost their lives in Co Louth on Saturday night.

The victims were Chloe McGee from Carrickmacross , Alan McCluskey from Drumconrath, Dylan Commins from Ardee who were all aged 23, and Shay Duffy from Carrickmacross and Chloe Hipson from Scotland both were age 21.

In a statement posted online, Aughnamullen GAA and LGFA said with the permission of the McGee family, it is holding a candlelight vigil tonight at 7pm.

Those attending are asked to bring a candle.

Meanwhile, candlelight vigils will be held tonight in Drumconrath GFC's clubrooms at 7pm, and at Sean McDermott's at 7.30pm.

An hour of prayer for those who were killed is taking place in St. Patrick's Church in upper Magheracloone from 5.30p.m this evening.

The Municipal District of Carrickmacross and Castleblayney has opened a Book of Condolences in memory of the five young people who tragically lost their lives.

Members of the public may sign the book from 11am on Wednesday morning at Carrickmacross Civic Offices (A81 HY83) or at Castleblayney Library (A75 V383).
