Monaghan County Council will hold a Special Meeting next Monday the 22nd of September to consider the nomination of candidates for the forthcoming Presidential Election.
The nomination process for the Presidency of Ireland allows candidates to be nominated either, by 20 members of the Oireachtas, or by at least four local authorities.
The national deadline for nominations is 12 noon on Wednesday, the 24th of September.
Monaghan County Council have confirmed that they will not be releasing the number of candidates that have contacted them or who is on that list.
While Cavan County Council has no date set to hear for perspective candidates looking to get on the ballot paper and it is now unlikely that they will hold such a meeting.
As of Friday last, 13 people had made contact with Cavan County Council in relation to being heard by the local councillors on their bid to the Aras.
