Monaghan councillor backs calls for windfall tax on 'excessive profits'

A Monaghan councillor has backed calls for a windfall tax on profitable energy companies.

At Monday's County Council, David Maxwell brought forward a motion with his party colleagues to address the spiralling energy prices.

He says the Government needs to introduce a tax in the budget to address what he called 'excessive profits'.

David Maxwell told Northern Sound that it can't be allowed continue.
