A Co Monaghan councillor is calling on the Government to reduce childcare costs to no more than €200 per month.
Cllr Sinead Flynn says on top of this, work needs to begin on delivering a publicly funded childcare system.
The local councillor raised the motion earlier this week with her motion being seconded by Cllr Pat Treanor along with unanimous support from other councillors.

Cllr Flynn said right now in our communities, parents are putting their names on waiting lists as soon as they find out they're pregnant.
She also said that some families are paying nearly €250 per week for 1 child in a childcare facility.
The Sinn Fein Councillor said as we approach Budget 2026, it's time for action.
