Monaghan councillor calls for legislation on electric scooters

Legislation has been delayed on determining the legal age for driving electric scooters.

So far it looks like people will have to be 16 or over but the matter remains unclear.

Monaghan councillor and business man Raymond Aughey has called on the Government to pritorise the legislation.

He added that it must deal with the issues that are before the Dail in respect of the matter.

Mr Aughey also pointed out that e-scooters are Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (MPVs)

Therefore, he added, they should be regarded in the same way as other MPVs.
