Monaghan farmer says pig industry is in a state of 'turmoil'

Well-established pig farmers have already left the sector as a result of the soaring price of feed and fuel costs.

A Monaghan pig farmer will protest today outside the Department of Agriculture in Dublin as a result of the soaring price of feed and fuel costs.

Frank Brady who is the IFA's Ulster-North Leinster Regional Chairperson says the pig industry is in turmoil.

Mr Brady along with members of the IFA has called on the Government to support the pig industry before it is too late and states farmers are willing to pay back money which is allocated over the next 10 to 15 years.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Mr Brady hopes to raise the issue of pig farmers exiting the sector due to enormous financial losses at the protest in Dublin today.
