A Co Monaghan father has made a direct appeal to local politicians to reach out to the NCSE over concerns that local children with special needs will be left without a school place come September.
Paddy McAloon says the conversation between parents and the NCSE has started but pressure must be applied to make sure that conversation continues.
This latest push comes as children with special needs in Co Monaghan are trying to get into post primary schools, however only seven places are available.
Nine children, including Paddy's son are without places in Our Lady's in Castleblayney and 2 in St McCartan's College in Monaghan.
Mr McAloon highlighted that schools are willing and ready to step up are being left waiting on approvals.
Despite this, principals and staff are being placed under impossible pressure, while parents like himself are left to fight for basic certainty about their children's future.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Paddy said parents like himself are "devastated."
Paddy is calling on local representatives to prioritise this matter and push hard for the special needs kids of Co Monaghan.
