Over 400 people have been hospitalised with the flu so far this winter. The HSE says the number of cases is rising rapidly and has doubled in the last week, compared to the week before. Hospitalisations from the virus are mainly impacting older adults and children. Illona Duffy, a Monaghan based GP, says there's still time to get your vaccine before Christmas.
"A certain eliminate of vaccine fatigue has probably crept in over the years since Covid," explained Dr Duffy. "Any vaccine is better than no vaccine and very definitely at this point in time when we're seeing rirsing flu rates in the community and I would advise people to go and their flu vaccine."
