A Monaghan GP has issued advice as out of hours GP services are increasingly in demand over the festive period.
Dr. Illona Duffy said that the services already saw a surge in mid-December, with flu cases expected to peak this week, which is impacting both out of hours and A&E services.
Speaking to Northern Sound Dr. Duffy advised to use undertheweather.ie which has advice for dealing with minor illnesses.
Dr. Duffy made a plea that the emergency department and out-of-hours GPs be kept for what they are meant to be.
