The HSE has confirmed that a new MRI scanner will be installed at Monaghan Hospital.
The news was contained in correspondence to Cavan-Monaghan TD Cathy Bennett.
Deputy Bennett says restoring and enhancing services in our local hospital is justified and necessary to tackle the excessive waiting list that plague our health services.
The local TD described the news as "just the beginning" and has made calls for a CT scanner to be put in place in Monaghan.
Deputy Bennett believes Monaghan has been left behind with a hospital that is not fully serviced.
She says staff are doing a "fantastic job" but they have been let down by Government.
Deputy Bennett told Northern Sound that she is "delighted” that Monaghan will be getting its fair share of equipment.
