Monaghan recorded a significant increase in land prices

Land prices across the region have surged by over 30% in the last two years.

Paul Mooney, from the Irish farmers journal says a reduction in the supply of land coming on sale will make it difficult for young farmers who want to expand their enterprise.

Co Monaghan recorded one of the most significant increases in land prices nationwide, at 52%.

Clare had the most significant price increase, at 94 percent.

Mr Mooney predicted that the supply of land across counties Cavan and Monaghan would remain restricted for the year ahead.
