A 56 year old man who was arrested in June of last year in Monaghan on suspicion of human trafficking offences has been once again further remanded in jail.
Dainis Grinfelds appeared via video link this morning at Monaghan District Court.
The Latvian national with an address on Dublin Street in Monaghan Town was charged with one count of allegedly trafficking a woman within the state on a date in 2015.
As part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking for the purpose of exploitation and forced criminality, Mr Grinfelds appeared via video link before Judge Raymond Finnegan earlier today.
The charge relates to allegedly trafficking a woman within Ireland and outside of Ireland and Mr Grinfelds is charged under Section 4 of the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act 2008.
Judge Finnegan was told at today's sitting that a file is still awaited from the DPP, the case was described as a complex one by court presenter, Sgt Lisa McEntee. While accepting the complexities, Judge Finnegan said a decision would have to made soon by the courts in relation to the case.
Mr Grinfelds was remanded to appear in person at Monaghan District Court on the 14th of January for DPP directions.
