A Monaghan Senator has raised concerns about the cost of road materials due to ongoing global turmoil.
Robbie Gallagher raised the issue in the Seanad this morning.
He pointed to the condition of roads nationwide, comparing it to the roads in Cavan and Monaghan.
The Fianna Fail man noted that Cavan and Monaghan have a higher suceptibility to potholes, almost double the national average.
Current funding figures are not enough to counteract the backlog.
Speaking in the Seanad he said conflict in the Middle East is leading to increased costs of materials.
