Monaghan Senator outlines the importance of online safety

He outlined that there are 6 Junior Cycle indicators: Wellbeing, connection, respected, aware, resilient, active and responsible.

A Co. Monaghan Senator has outlined the importance of safety surrounding students and social media.

Last week, Senator Robbie Gallagher attended a meeting in the Monaghan Peace Campus, where the principal of St. Macartan's College gave a presentation on social media.

In David McCague's presentation, he outlined the impact it is having on young people, and said it should be called anti-social media.

Senator Gallagher spoke in the Seanad about the presentation.

He outlined that there are 6 Junior Cycle indicators of wellbeing, connection, respected, aware, resilient, active and responsible.

The Senator said that each one of them is being challenged directly by adolescent use of social media.
