A Co. Monaghan Senator has outlined the importance of safety surrounding students and social media.
Last week, Senator Robbie Gallagher attended a meeting in the Monaghan Peace Campus, where the principal of St. Macartan's College gave a presentation on social media.
In David McCague's presentation, he outlined the impact it is having on young people, and said it should be called anti-social media.
Senator Gallagher spoke in the Seanad about the presentation.
He outlined that there are 6 Junior Cycle indicators of wellbeing, connection, respected, aware, resilient, active and responsible.
The Senator said that each one of them is being challenged directly by adolescent use of social media.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Gallagher outlined the situation.
