A Co Monaghan woman was crowned ALDI Ireland's one billionth customer today.
Local shopper Colleen Mc Crudden was presented with a year's worth of free shopping to mark the occasion.
It comes as ALDI Ireland has opened its new €14m million store in Monaghan today creating 30 new permanent jobs in the county.
The new store on Broad Road, is the retailer's first in Monaghan Town and second in the county.
ALDI shoppers will be able to make use of 81 car parking spaces and 10 electric vehicle charging spaces. A total of 10 bike rails, hosting up to 20 bikes are also available outside.
John Leather, Store Manager, ALDI Monaghan Town said "It is great to open our new store in Monaghan Town today and bring even more exceptional value and quality Irish products and ingredients to the local community."
